China will continue its efforts to realize the goal of a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula through dialogue in a peaceful manner, China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin said yesterday.

 

Jia, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, made the remarks during talks with Kim Soo-han, former speaker of the South Korean National Assembly.

 

China and South Korea have widened exchanges and cooperation in politics, economy, culture and security since the two nations established diplomatic ties in 1992, Jia said, adding that China would like to join efforts with South Korea to deepen mutual understanding and cooperation to boost an all-around partnership.

 

Kim said that South Korea and China enjoy high-level exchanges, considerable trade volume and stable bilateral ties, which carries significant meaning for peace in Northeast Asia.

 

Besides Beijing, Kim, as guest of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, will also visit east China's Shandong Province from today.
