China said on Friday that the Association of Southeast Asian Nations(ASEAN) Regional Forum played positive roles in enhancing trust and promoting cooperation.
"As the major official channel on security dialogue and cooperation in Asia-Pacific region, ASEAN Regional Forum(ARF) has played positive roles in enhancing trust, reaching consensus and promoting cooperation," Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said.
Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing will attend the seventh foreign ministers' meeting between ASEAN and China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (10+3) from July 26 to 28 in Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia, Liu said.
Li will also attend the ASEAN's Post Ministerial Conferences (PMC) with dialogue countries and the thirteenth foreign ministers' meeting of ARF, Liu said.
On the sidelines of the meetings, Li will hold one-on-one meetings with foreign ministers of some countries, exchanging views on issues of common concern, the spokesman said.
China holds that the ARF development should conform to the characteristics and needs of the Asia-Pacific region, Liu said.
The spokesman said that China will work with other countries to boost the sound development of the ARF and maintain the security of the Asia-Pacific region.
