Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo said in Beijing Monday that China is ready to work with Sudan to push forward bilateral friendly relations.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, made the remarks while meeting with Nafi'a Ali Nafi'a, deputy chairman for political affairs of National Congressof Sudan.

Wu spoke highly of the stable development of Sino-Sudanese relations, saying the two countries have carried out sound cooperation in politics, trade and international affairs.

Wu, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said that the relations between the CPC and Sudan's National Congress has become a bridge of friendship linking the people of the two countries and facilitated bilateral cooperation in various fields.

The CPC will further step up its cooperation with the National Congress of Sudan, said Wu.

Nafi'a appreciated China's long-term support, saying that the Sudan is satisfied with the growth of Sudan-China relations and it is the common aspiration of both countries to boost pragmatic cooperation in various fields.

The Sudanese National Congress will further boost cooperation and exchanges with the CPC so as to contribute more to deepening the Sudan-China relations, Nafi'a said.

Li Changchun, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, on Monday also commended the all-round ties between China and Sudan.

"China and Sudan have continuously expanded cooperation in politics, economy, science and culture since they forged diplomatic ties in 1959," he told visiting Nafi'a.

The two countries have kept close coordination and cooperation in international affairs, Li said.

China appreciates that the Sudanese government has always supported China on the issues of Taiwan and human rights, Li said.

"I believe the China-Sudan relations will be further developed with our joint efforts," Li said.

Noting the sound inter-party relationship helps promote the China-Sudan ties, Li said the CPC would like to beef up cooperation with the National Congress of Sudan.

He also briefed the guest on China's policy of developing new China-Africa partnership.

Nafi'a said Sudan-China cooperation in various fields has brought substantial benefits to the two peoples.

Sudan will, as always, back China's reunification cause and oppose "Taiwan's independence" of various forms, Nafi'a said.
