China will hold an Internet culture exposition in October in an effort to create a healthy Internet environment.
According to the Ministry of Culture, the fourth Internet Culture Exposition will be held in Beijing from October 26 to 29 and preparations are under way.
The exposition is aimed at promoting a healthy Internet environment and the government's role in cleaning up the Internet and using advanced information technology to create a healthy and moral Internet culture, said Tuo Zuhai, an official with the Culture Ministry.
The theme of this year's exposition will be "Internet connects the world. Innovation leads to the future". Tuo said that the exposition will be composed of two parts: business to business (B2B) and business to consumers (B2C).
There will be presentations of animation work from Chinese producers, international interactive entertainment and equipment for Internet cafes. The exposition will also hold an Internet music award ceremony.
In recent years, the Internet industry in China has seen remarkable progress and now has more than 700,000 Websites, with more than 25,000 being added each year. There are more than 100 million Internet users in the country.
In early April, a proposal to operate 'civilized' Internet Websites won support from fourteen major websites in Beijing. The Internet authorities have also increased their supervision of Internet websites.
