Musharraf Urges Cooperation in Energy Sector with China

Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf said on Thursday that Pak-China relations are multi-faceted and there was a need to strengthen further by cooperating in the energy sector as well as economic, commercial and trade fields.

 

Musharraf made the remarks when he met with head of All China Federation of Industry and Commerce Hu Deping, who led a 80-member delegation to attend Pakistan-China Energy Forum from April 25-27.

 

Mushrraf identified Pakistan's energy needs which were growing exponentially and he invited China's public and private sectors to invest in Pakistan in order to establish a trade and energy corridor from Gwadar to China.

 

On his part, Hu Deping praised the president's sagacious leadership which had led to stability in the region and economic development of Pakistan.

 

He said that the development of energy was the common objective of both countries. China's public and private sectors were ready to invest in Pakistan in the energy sector and other fields.

 

He added that the energy corridor would be beneficial for both countries.

 

Hu said that China would continue its assistance for there habilitation of the earthquake affected areas.
