Chinese and Vietnamese government delegations on border negotiations held meetings in Beijing from April 13 to 15 to exchange views on issues concerning the survey of Sino-Vietnamese land borderlines.

 

The two delegations are respectively led by Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Wu Dawei and Vietnamese Vice Foreign Minister Vu Dung.

 

The two sides spoke highly of the talks held last year, exchanged views on the implementation of consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries on finishing the borderline survey in 2008 and discussed the principles and measures on the settlement of the remaining issues.

 

Both sides agreed to continue close cooperation and speed up the process of defining land borderlines so as to ensure the completion of land borderline survey on schedule.

 

Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing met with the Vietnamese delegation on April 14. He said the two sides should strengthen mutual trust and close coordination and properly handle the relevant issues through friendly consultations and based on mutual understanding and accommodation.
