Adjust font size:

China is satisfied with the current development of China-Romania trade ties and hopes the two sides will step up bilateral economic and trade cooperation, Premier Wen Jiabao said on Wednesday.

Wen made the remark while meeting with visiting Romanian President Traian Basescu.

He highlighted that China-Romania trade volume has surged in recent years, expressing the hope that the two sides will continue to encourage and support Chinese and Romanian businesses to improve communication and cooperation, expand and balance two-way trade and implement the major cooperative projects in an effective manner.

Wen said that China and Romania witnessed growing political mutual trust since the two countries forged an all-round friendly and cooperative partnership in 2004, calling for the two countries to further cooperate in fields such as trade, culture and education, and science and technology and cement mutual support on international issues.

Basescu highlighted that Romania and China have forged a solid foundation for the development of the bilateral ties and the Romanian side will adhere to the friendly policies towards China and remain committed to promoting the partnership.

Romania expects to expand the bilateral trade volume and welcomes Chinese businessmen to invest in Romania, Basescu said.
