China, Senegal to Cement Military Ties

China and Senegal will boost bilateral cooperation in various fields including the military field, said Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan Thursday.

 

Cao, also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and a state councilor, made the remarks in his meeting with Papa Khalilou Fall, visiting chief of the General Staff of the Senegalese armed forces, and his party.

 

It is the first Senegalese military delegation that visits China since the two countries resumed bilateral ties last October.

 

Cao said Sino-Senegalese relations have developed smoothly since the resumption of bilateral ties. The two countries conducted fruitful cooperation in political and economic fields, he added.

 

China attaches importance to its relations with Senegal, and is willing to make joint efforts to further promote bilateral friendly cooperation in various fields, Cao said.

 

Concerning the Taiwan issue, Cao said Taiwan is an inseparable part of China.

 

Cao also expressed appreciation over the support of the Senegalese government and people for China on the Taiwan issue.

 

Fall said the Senegalese government and people sincerely hope China could realize its reunification. His country is willing to enhance exchanges with China and further boost their military relations.
