China's state-owned enterprises have been asked to promote democratic administration and ensure employees' right to know to improve supervision.

Wu Guanzheng, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the instruction when inspecting state-owned enterprises in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province, from July 7 to July 8.

Wu, also secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, urged further enhancing party-building and anti-corruption drive in state-owned enterprises during the inspection tour.

He said although new progress has been made in this field, there still exist some problems that call for high attention and effective countermeasures.

These problems include random bonus or material rewards, conspicuous consumption and infringing upon the legal rights and interests of employees, he said.

He urged stepping up investigation of corruption cases, including those involving embezzling state assets, commercial bribery and corruption behind major work safety accidents, and meanwhile enhancing the supervision system to stem corruption at its source.

During the tour, Wu also asked leaders of state-owned enterprises to "care for the lives of workers and conscientiously solve major issues that harm their interests".
