Violent Resistance Occurred on Law Enforcement
Adjust font size:

One traffic policeman has died and 99 have been injured in law enforcement since the beginning of this year, a source from the Ministry of Public Security said on Monday.

An official with the Communications Administration under the Ministry of Public Security said 76 cases of violent resistance to traffic police law enforcement have occurred since the beginning of this year.

"Traffic police were beaten by drivers or knocked down by cars when they tried to enforce the law on the streets. Violence happened because some drivers refused to be examined, corrected and punished by police," said the official.

On May 25, a traffic policeman in Tianjin Municipality was deliberately knocked down by a driver after he told him not to drive in a no-traffic zone. The policeman suffered fractured ribs.

On May 24, a traffic policeman in Shanghai Municipality ordered a driver not to use his mobile phone while driving. But the driver tried to flee, injuring four traffic policemen.

The Communications Administration has issued a notice which states the names of those people who injure traffic police.
