Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said his country will provide US$1 million in aid to help Lebanon in its reconstruction, the Bernama news agency reported Friday.
Badawi said he would ask Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar to arrange for US$1 million in Malaysia to help the war-torn country, according to the news agency.
The prime minister made the remarks on Thursday at a press conference after delivering his speech at the plenary session of the World Economic Forum themed "Rules for a Global Neighborhood in a Multicultural World" in Davos, Switzerland.
Badawi added that his country holds the principle that whoever was responsible for the destruction of Lebanon should be held accountable for its reconstruction.
The Malaysian leader, however, did not name the party that he thought should be responsible for the destruction in Lebanon.
"Malaysia practices what it preaches, including the principles of Islam Hadhari (Civilizational Islam)," Badawi said.
