1. Political relations
Ever since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries on November 13, 1975, it has seen a smooth development of friendly and cooperative relations of the two countries.
Chinese leaders and officials who visited the Comoros are: Shi Lin, Counselor of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (July 1981), Wang Wendong, Assistant to Minister with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (April 1988), Yang Fuchang, Vice-minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (February 1992), Ji Peiding, Assistant to Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (July 1996), Yang Wensheng, Assistant to Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (March 1998), He Xiaowei, Assistant to Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (August 2000), Qiao Zonghuai, Vice minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (December 2002) and some others.
Leaders and officials who visited China from the Comoros mainly include: Himid, Minister of Internal Affairs (June 1976), Kafe, Minister of Finance, Economy, Planning and Foreign Trade (January 1982), Abdallah, President (November 1988), A. Nassuf, First Deputy-speaker of the Federal Assembly and S. Bacar, Third Deputy-speaker of the Federal Assembly (September 1989),A. Halifa, Speaker of the Federal Assembly (June 1990), M. Halifa, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (August 1991), Sharif M. Sagaf, Foreign Minister (July 1994), Taki, President (December 1996). In October, 2000, S. M. EL Amine, Foreign minister of the Comoros and S. A. Toybou, Minister of Economy, Trade, Industry and Handicrafts came to China attending the Sino-African Cooperation Forum and met Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan. In May 2001, Li Zhaoxing, Vice minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs met S. M. EL Amine, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Comoros who came to China for a private visit.
2. Economy and trade relations and economic and technological cooperation
Since the establishment of the diplomatic relations it has seen a steady development of economic exchanges and trade and economic and technological cooperation between the People's Republic of China and the Comoros. The two countries signed agreement for economic and technological cooperation. Starting from 1976, China began to provide the Comoros with all kinds of aid. Up to now, the aids provided by China for Comoros include the water-supply project at Nioumakélé, people's palace, government office building, presidential mansions and TV and broadcasting building and so on. In 2002, the Sino-Comoros trade value reached a total amount of 760,000 in the US dollars, all being exports from China.
3. Exchange and cooperation in the fields of culture, education and medical work
In 1985, the two countries signed an "Agreement for Cultural Cooperation between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Islamic Union of the Comoros". Chinese acrobatic and folk music troupes went to the Comoros for performances and also had many a time film shows, arts and handicrafts shows there. They were warmly welcomed there.
Starting from 1982, China began to provide the Comoros with quotas of scholarship. At present there are 5 students from the Comoros studying in China. China began to dispatch medical teams to the Comoros since 1994, and so far there are 11 Chinese medical personnel working there in the Comoros.
