A formal event introducing the highly anticipated documentary film, Yuanmingyuan, was held in Beijing on August 14th.
The documentary film Yuanmingyuan is being hailed to be the best digital film ever produced in China.
Yuanmingyuan is set to be screened in China this September.
The film's most distinctive feature is its application, throughout its entirety, of digital techniques, like the digital intermediate and the emulation techniques, to produce the most accurate simulation of the original environment of the Yuanmingyuan garden as it existed in history. In addition, Weta Digital has produced a first-rate copy of the visual documentary for audiences.
The director of the new film, Jin Tiemu, was the winner of three China Television Documentary Academic Awards in 2004 for his masterpiece The Resurgent Legion (Fu Huo De Jun Tuan). And now, Jin's new documentary, Yuanmingyuan, is expected to even surpass his previous work, as it is now being hailed to be the best digital film ever produced in China.
Full of exquisite landscapes, Yuanmingyuan, or the Old Summer Palace, was once the world's largest and most luxuriant royal garden. Its construction began in 1707 during the Qing Dynasty and took more than 100 years to finish. In its heyday, Yuanmingyuan covered 346 hectares and was home to more than 160 luxurious views. And now, with the new film Yuanmingyuan, audiences are being given a rare chance to appreciate the garden's original prosperity and beauty.
Produced by the Beijing Science and Educational Film Studio, as well as Guangxi TV, the Huaxia Film Group is in charge of the film's upcoming distribution.
