The lead role of the live-action version of Mulan has yet to be unveiled, but newspaper China Business View reports director Stanley Tong has ruled out Li Yuchun, the winner of the "Super Girl" singing competition in 2005.
Katie Leung, who plays Cho Chang in the Harry Potter films, is likely to be chosen to star the legendary Chinese heroine.
The newspaper says the investment company also favors the Scotland-born Chinese girl, who is better known outside China.
The film, with a 200 million yuan budget, is set to start shooting in October.
