The "Asian New Director" film project, invested in by Andy Lau in the amount of 12.5 million Hong Kong dollars, has supported yet another promising work.
Since finishing its production with the help of the project, the black-humor film directed by Ning Hao and literally translated as Thief among Thieves is now seeking approval.
According to the film's distribution company, if approved, the black-humor film will premiere in Shanghai on June 19th.
Notable investor Andy Lau will be present at the premiere.
The new film tells the story of some incredible events surrounding a priceless jade jewel in southeast China's Chongqing city.
The director says that Chinese mainland comedies usually employ a teasing style for relatively uncomplicated laughs. He decided to adopt the more black humor featured in this film to create a more dense comic atmosphere.
The "Asian New Director" film project aims to help young and talented Asian directors produce quality movies.
