Hong Kong star Edison Chen will be the lead star in the sequel to The Grudge - the US remake of a popular Japanese thriller.

 

A spokesman from the rising actor's entertainment company, Cora, has confirmed that the move marks Edison Chen's first step in building his name in Hollywood films.

 

 

The popular US stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jennifer Bell will also star in the film as leading actresses.

 

The spokesman says Edison Chen will start shooting the film in Japan during the first half of this year.

 

The young Canadian born star recently garnered worldwide media attention through his role in Initial D at the Venice Film Festival.
