Taiwan director Ang Lee won the 2006 Golden Globe award for best director yesterday with the gay cowboy romance Brokeback Mountain.
"I want to give my first thanks to my fellow filmmakers for strengthening my faith in the power of movies to change the way we're thinking," Lee said.
Ang Lee won an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the turn of the millennium for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, an honor usually reserved for un-Hollywood-like achievement.
