Taiwan pop singer Jay Chow has written and performed the theme song for kung fu movie Fearless, starring Chinese action star Jet Li. Chow fearlessly used the "dan" (female role) voice, which appears only in traditional Beijing opera, in part of the song.
He wrote the song in just two days, and it was broadcast Monday.
Many of Chow's fans downloaded the song from the Internet and gave excited online feedback on Chow's female voice. They also give rave reviews to his monologue in the song.
Chow met his idol, Jet Li, a couple of days ago in Hong Kong, when they announced their first movie cooperation to promote the film. Chow said at the conference he wrote and performed the song for free, and if his idol liked the ideas he expressed in the song, he would be very happy. "Jet Li is my idol. Writing a song for his movie is my dream."
The theme song has been recorded on Chow's latest EP (extended-play) album, which will be released January 20. The movie Fearless is set for release January 25.
