Following in the steps of former sex blogger Muzimei, another infamous female blogger in southern China's Guangzhou has posted marriage-seeking ads on her blog as well as in popular forums, sparking debate among Internet users.
The 31-year-old woman, nicknamed Meining, was once voted the most beautiful blogger in Chinese cyberspace. In her overwhelming posts, the woman listed 11 "basal requirements" for her future husband. Among them, she insists the man must have savings of 5 million yuan, or about US$625,000.
Dismissed as a "lover of money" by many Internet users, Meining counters she is only testing the applicant's courage and attitude this way. She believes 5 million is not too much for a man with capabilities.
Meining's other requirements include being "single," "older than 32," "capable of handling pressure" and "knowledgeable on how to make money through the Internet."
Being a teacher in real life, Meining says her mother always wanted her to get married. As a well known blogger, she came up with the idea of seeking marriage online.
She reveals she has received a couple of letters from candidates so far, but still needs time to make a decision.
Starting her blog last March, Meining reportedly already posted these kinds of advertisements last year. However, many Internet users believe the ruse may be a trick to hype her blog and herself.
