China has set the timetables and ticket prices for the first trains from five cities to Lhasa along the Qinghai-Tibet Railway which is due to open for trial operations on July 1, 2006.
The Qinghai-Tibet Railway will have oxygen supplies on trains to alleviate the effects of altitude sickness.
The gas will be supplied through an air-conditioning type system on the trains which can make the oxygen content in carriages rise by 80 percent. Oxygen masks are installed under the seats and passengers can access them easily if they're feeling unwell.
Each train will have a doctor and a nurse on board for emergency treatment of passengers.
