The newly-elected Standing Committee of the 10th National People's Congress (NPC) held the first meeting of its chairman and vice chairpersons in Beijing Tuesday afternoon, deciding to convene the first meeting of the 10th NPC Standing Committee Wednesday.
Wu Bangguo, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, presided over the meeting.
Wednesday's NPC Standing Committee meeting will appoint deputy secretaries-general of the NPC Standing Committee, appoint and remove the chairmen and vice chairmen of the Legislative Affairs Commission and the Budgetary Work Committee of the NPC Standing Committee, and appoint the chairman, vice chairman and members of the Basic Law Committee of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) under the NPC Standing Committee.
Sheng Huaren, vice chairman and secretary-general of the NPC Standing Committee, reported to the meeting concerning the agenda, schedule and other matters related to personnel appointment and removal for Wednesday's meeting.
Wednesday's meeting of the NPC Standing Committee is scheduled to last half a day.
All vice chairpersons of the NPC Standing Committee attended Tuesday's meeting.
