Li Peng, chairman of the 9th National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, said Tuesday morning that a total 2,983 deputies will attend the First Session of the 10th NPC First Session.
Li said at a preparatory meeting for the NPC session due to open Wednesday that 2,985 NPC deputies were elected across the country, including Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions. As two of them died, the remaining 2,983 will attend the session.
A 181-member presidium and secretary-general for the First Session of the 10th NPC were elected at the preparatory meeting presided over by Li Peng.
