Foreign Media Praise 16th CPC National Congress

News media around the world have covered the 16th CPC National Congress at length, giving positive comments about the smooth transition of the CPC leadership.

"The Australian" has published profiles of the 9 new members of the CPC Politburo Standing Committee, saying the new general secretary Hu Jintao will lead the world's most populous nation to continue its economic development, and carry on along the road of reform and opening up.

The Australian Financial Review carries an editorial saying the smooth transition of the Chinese leadership is an important contribution to the sustainable development of the global economy. Hu Jintao's remarks to the media indicate that China will continue reforming, opening up and developing its economy, and will improve people's living standards.

South Korean Joong Ang Ilbo newspaper reports that the new Chinese leadership led by Hu Jintao will push China higher on the list of economic powers. As China has surpassed the US to become the biggest trade partner of South Korea, South Korea is more anxious than ever to expand cooperation with China and establish mutual trust with the new leadership.

The French 'Le Nouvelle d'Europe' says in an editorial that the CPC's goal of building a well-off society in an all round way is to improve the people's lives. The younger and better-educated new leadership embodies the principle of keeping pace with the times.

The Belgian 'Le Soir' commented positively on the achievements China has made over the past few years. The article says that as the old generation of leaders retires, the party has absorbed its new elite group successfully. With the important thought of Three Representatives written into the party constitution, more young entrepreneurs will join the party. China's over 2 million private enterprises are closely related to the country's stability and economic development.

Argentina's 'The Nation' says the important thought of Three Representatives will lead China to greater reforms in society and culture. Its inclusion into the Party Constitution suggests the CPC's membership will continue to become diversified.

Brazil's 'Folha de Sao Paulo' newspaper stresses that the addition of Three Representatives thought into the Party Constitution will ensure China's future stability and development, and help accelerate the pace of China's modernization.
