Hu Pledges Sticking to Reform, Opening-up

Hu Jintao, newly elected general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), pledged to continue China's reform, opening-up drive and modernization cause.

Hu made the remark when meeting with Chinese and foreign journalists covering the 16th CPC National Congress Friday morning in the Great Hall of the People.

Hu said that guided and inspired by the spirit of the 16th CPC National Congress, the Communist Party of China would further show the rest of the world its sound image of keeping pace with the times and the pioneering spirit.

He said that the whole Party and people from all ethnic groups would unite more closely and concentrate on construction and development so as to continue pushing forward China's reform, opening-up, and modernization drive.

China would certainly have a more splendid future, Hu said, adding that China's further development would contribute more to world peace and development.
