The first delegates to attend the 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China have arrived in Beijing.

The delegation, from central China's Hunan province, touched down at the Capital Airport at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning.

More than 2,100 delegates are expected to arrive before Friday's opening of the Party Congress in the Chinese capital.

The total number of the Chinese Communist Party members now stands at over 66 million.
