On August 30, 1977, Tito, president of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and president of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia, upon an invitation to visit China, arrived in Beijing. This was followed by gradual restoration of relations between the CPC and Communist Parties and Workers’ Parties in other European countries.
