CPC Central Committee Appoints Party Heads of Three Cities

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has decided on CPC leaders in Beijing, the national capital, Shanghai, China's largest city, and Chongqing, a major city in southwest China.

Jia Qinglin is succeeded by Liu Qi as secretary of the municipal CPC committee of Beijing, while Huang Ju is succeeded by Chen Liangyu as secretary of Shanghai's municipal CPC committee.

Jia and Huang, both members of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, are transferred to posts at the central authorities.

He Guoqiang is succeeded by Huang Zhendong as secretary of Chongqing's municipal CPC committee. He is assigned to another post.
