			Wang Yunkun

Wang Yunkun, a native of Liyang, Jiangsu Province, was born in December 1942. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in April 1966 and began to work in September 1966. He received university education and has an academic title of engineer.

Wang graduated from Tianjin University's Radio Technology Department. In September 1966, he began to work with the Chemical Machinery Factory under the Jilin Chemical Industry Company as deputy chief of the CPC committee office, chief of the publicity and acting deputy secretary of the factory's CPC committee.

He became secretary of the Chinese Communist Youth League Committee of the Jilin Chemical Industry Company in June 1981 and was promoted to the post of vice-mayor of Jilin City, Jilin Province, in July the next year. The other posts he took in later years are as follows. February 1983: a Standing Committee member of the CPC Jilin City Committee and acting mayor of Jilin City; June 1983: deputy secretary of CPC Jilin City Committee and mayor of Jilin; January 1986: director of the Department of Machinery and Electronics Industry, Jilin Province, and director of the Jilin Provincial Office for National Defense Industry; January 1988: director of the Jilin Provincial Commission for Economic Restructuring; May 1988: secretary-general of Jilin provincial government; March 1989: vice-governor of Jilin Province; November 1992: vice-governor of Jilin Province and concurrently secretary of the CPC Changchun City Committee; December 1992: elected into the Standing Committee of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee while holding the previous posts; June 1995: deputy secretary of CPC Jilin Provincial Committee, acting governor; February 1996-April 1998: deputy secretary of CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and governor of Jilin Province; September 1998: secretary of CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and a member of the 15th CPC Central Committee.

Wang was re-elected secretary of CPC Jilin Provincial Committee at the first session of the Eighth CPC Jilin Provincial Committee held in May 2002.
