Yi Outshines Tang as Guangdong Rout Jiangsu

In the game between last year's CBA champion Guangdong and regular season champion Jiangsu on yesterday, the Southern Tigers outplayed the visiting Dragons 118-111, extending their wining streak to eleven games. Guangdong has won the previous four mettings with Jiangsu.

Yi Jianlian netted a team-high 34 points with 7 rebounds plus 3 steals in the win. Dixon Jason chipped in 26 points while grabbing 7 boards. Du Feng and Greene Terrence added 23 points and 18 apiece for the Southern Tigers, who have won fourteen of their last fifteen games.

Zhang Cheng led the Dragons with 36 points. Center Tang Zhengdong achieved a double-double with 26 points and 14 rebounds. Dixon Carlos had 23 points and Yi Li added 13 points for the Dragons, losers of two straight.

No foreign player was on the Guangdong starting lineup and Yi Jianlian made a jump shot to open the game. The Jiangsu Dragons led the scorings at 37-26 after the first quarter and 62:59 after half time. But Guangdong sent two foreign players starting from the third period. In this evenly-played stanza, Greene Terrence of the Tigers erupted for 10 points to help Guangdong turn the tables 90-89 entering the final quarter of action. Yi Jianlian and Dixon Jason, the "two towers" of Guangdong, dominated the inside play as Jiangsu never got closer than 5 points in this period. Zhang Cheng sank a 3-pointer at the buzzer and he was 7-of-14 from the arc.

Jiangsu will take on Dongguan Leopards on Dec. 28 and the Guangdong Southern Tigers will go for a clash with the Shanghai Sharks, who defeated the visiting Leopards 120:109 yesterday.

Shanghai point guard Liu Wei tied with Anthony Miles of Dongguan for a game-high 40 points. Liu also had 13 assists, 8 rebounds and 5 steals. He has left for Australia for the upcoming NBL All-Star Game on Dec. 27.

"I'm calm now and I take it as a CBA game. All I want to do is to show my skills on the court." Liu said.

In other games of the 16th round, Bayi beat Fujian 114-104, Jilin downed Shaanxi 103-91, Shandong lost to Beijing 97-84, Liaoning outplayed Xinjiang 100-81, Yunnan edged out Zhejiang 99-96.
