Orvie Garrett was selected  by the US Bobsled and Skeleton Federation as its new Olympic skeleton coach, two days after Tim Nardiello was denied a credential for next month's Turin Games.

Garrett's appointment still must be approved by the US Olympic Committee, which isn't allowing Nardiello to coach the four-person skeleton team after an inquiry into his conduct revealed what the USOC considered as ethical violations.

Lea Ann Parsley, a women's silver medalist at the 2002 Olympics, was nominated as an assistant coach by the USBSF.

Garrett served as the interim head coach following Nardiello's suspension by the USBSF on Dec. 31 over allegations he sexually harassed members of his team. An independent arbitrator ultimately found no credible evidence within those accusations, leading to Nardiello's reinstatement.

But the USOC was not involved in that decision, and made its ruling on Nardiello after its own examination into the matter.
