Tiger Attacks Repair Worker at Wildlife Park
Adjust font size:

A tiger jumped over a two-meter fence and bit a repair worker at Jinan Wildlife Park in Shandong Province on Wednesday morning, the Qilu Evening News reported yesterday.

After six hours of surgery, Zhang Yudong was out of danger.

The incident occurred at 8 PM, when Zhang, an employee of China Netcom, was repairing a telephone in a room beside the tiger's cage along with a colleague surnamed Lin.

The room was built beside the two-meter fence and the window is only a little higher than the fence, the report said.

"I heard his cry and rushed into the room, where I saw the tiger standing behind him, with its paws pressing on his shoulders and biting the right side of his face," Lin said.

"I attacked the tiger with a 10-centimeter-long knife, which allowed Zhang to run out of the room. I locked the door immediately to follow him," Lin said.

Zhang has a six-centimeter-long cut on his face and a serious wound to the back of his head, added Lin.
