Twenty parks are being built or enlarged in Urumqi, capital of Northwest China's
Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The project will add 23 hectares of grassland to the city within the year.
According to local government sources, 17 of the parks under construction are new, while three are being enlarged. The project will cost 11.9 million yuan (US$1.53 million).
By the end of last year, Urumqi had built more than 40 parks, significantly improving the quality of life for local people and providing more places for entertainment.
