Karst Tropical Rainforest Found in Hainan

This picture shot on March 23, 2007 shows a typical karst landform in China's southern island province Hainan. A scientific expedition recently discovered a karst tropical rainforest in the southwest part of Hainan. The rainforest covers more than 3,000 hectares, with abundant species of vegetation. Trees growing on karst hills form a peculiar scenery.

This picture shot on March 25, 2007 shows begonia cavaleriei flowers in the recently-discovered karst tropical rainforest in southwest Hainan. This species of begonia grows exclusively on limestone hills.
