The dolphins managed to swallow some of the plastic skids used to prevent slipping around the outside of their aquarium in Fushun. Veterinarians tried to remove the plastic shards surgically, but the dolphins' stomach contractions made it impossible.
Officially listed in the Guiness Book of World Records as the world's tallest man at 7-foot-7, Bao Xishun came to the rescue, the Xinhua News Agency reported. A dozen men restrained the animals. The dolphins' upper jaws were tied with towels to protect Bao's 3-foot, 4-inch arms.
The plastic had been in the dolphins' stomachs for two weeks officials say.
Bao lives near Chifeng City and his height does not result from a medical condition.
