An international conference on recycling and sustainable development, stemming from the annual Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), is to be held Nov. 24-25 in China's southern economic powerhouse Shenzhen.

More than 400 officials, entrepreneurs and scholars from China, the United States, Britain, Japan and the Republic of Korea will attend the conference, aiming to find ways to improve recycling and sustainable development, said BFA Secretary-General Long Yongtu Monday. The purpose of the conference is to learn about successful experiences in recycling and conservation in order to promote the sustainable development of developing Asian countries, Long said.

The conference will discussion policy and development trends affecting recycling efforts as well as research and development of new source of renewable and clean energy.

The BFA has convened an international meeting on logistics and a CEO summit in 2004 and 2005 respectively in Shenzhen.

Since it was established in 2001, the non-governmental Boao Forum for Asia has hosted five annual meetings which take place in April in Hainan Island in south China. The forums have resulted in numerous international conferences which provide a platform for regional cooperation between governments and the private sector.
