Snowfall Blocks Expressway Sections in Liaoning Province

A snowfall hit northeast China's Liaoning Province Saturday, blocking some expressway sections.

Parts of the expressway connecting Beijing and northeast China's Liaoning Province were forced to close down, according to the provincial communications department.

Other expressways in the province were also affected and some closed down due to low visibility.

The provincial meteorological observatory issued yellow snowfall alarming signal on Saturday morning to inform people of the snowfall effects on daily life. The yellow snowfall alarming is the slightest in the snowfall alarming system consisting of three colors: red, orange and yellow. Among them, red alarming represents the most serious influences upon the people.

The province issued red alarming signal on February 25 amid a heavy snowfall.
