S. China Province to Boost Wind Power Development

South China's Guangdong Province will boost wind power development in the 2006-2010 period, according to sources with the provincial development and reform commission.

 

Under a provincial blueprint on wind power development, its installed wind power generating capability will reach 700,000 kw by 2010.

 

By 2020, the installed wind power generating capability of Guangdong will reach 3 million kw, one third of which will come from marine wind power generators.

 

Guangdong Province has ample wind resources with an estimated onshore wind power reserve of about 75 million kw.

 

The province has built three wind power plants, and 179 wind power generators have become operational.
