A man proposed marriage to his girlfrield of four years through an advertisement screened at a movie theater in Luohu District on Sunday, the Daily Sunshine reported.
The man, only identified as Xiaoguang, paid for a 4-minute-15-second advertisement prior to a film screening at a movie theater in The MIXc mall. The ad, produced by himself, recalled the happy moments the couple had shared in their four years together, the newspaper said.
The screen went black for about a minute after the regular commercials ended. Then it flashed a sign which said "On June 24, 1981, a lovely girl named Jun was born..." it was followed by a slideshow of photographs of Jun set to music.
"Will you marry me, Jun?" said Xiaoguang, holding a diamond ring and a bunch of pink roses, half kneeling in front of the surprised girlfriend. Behind him the screen flashed "I love you, Jun, please marry me!" The entire theater audience then shouted in solidarity as Jun nodded her head in acceptance.
"Today is her birthday and I took her to a movie to carry out the plan I had more than a year ago," said Xiaoguang. He said he collected photographs from when she was six months old, scanned them and turned them into a slideshow set to one of her favorite songs.
Xiaoguang has invited his family and friends to be the witnesses to his marriage proposal. He also bought hundreds of roses and had his family and relatives place one rose on every seat in the theater.
