Chinese actress and singer Zhao Wei is busier these days. Despite continuing her studies as a graduate student at the Beijing Film Academy, she has signed with a new record company named MBOX Music.

As the first star singer under this new label, Zhao Wei explained, at a press conference in Beijing on Tuesday, why she decided to join the company.

"The company takes good care of every detail about my music, including inviting my favorite musician Ding Wei to cooperate with me and let me shoot and direct the music videos for my new songs."

Zhao Wei signed a three-year contract with the company, and will release two albums.

Zhao Wei's friend, the renowned Chinese musician, Li Quan, who is the general director of the new record label, will take charge of the production and quality-control of the album.

Zhao also revealed that the whole album will be recorded in a light-beat Karaoke style.

It is expected to be released later in June.
