A McDonald's restaurant in Shanghai has been decorated with scary themes for the upcoming Halloween festival, but many parents worry the decorations may scare their children.
The Shanghai Youth Daily reports the restaurant has placed a simulated witch at the entrance and has painted a large spider web on the ceiling. Most parents complain that these Halloween decorations are frightening their kids and believe the scary themes are not appropriate for a restaurant.
Some sociologists say that although Western festivals are becoming increasingly popular in China, the celebrations, especially decorations, should follow local customs.
Halloween is a festival in Europe and North America and celebrated on the night of October 31.
