Shaanxi Mosque, Urumqi

Located on Yonghe Lane in Urumqi, the 200-year-old mosque was first built during the reigns of Emperors Qianlong and Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty. Because it was expanded with money donated by Muslim immigrants from Shaanxi at the end of the 18th century, it became known as the Shaanxi Mosque.

The most distinctive feature of this building is its integration of the Islamic and classic Chinese architectural techniques. The wood frame construction and design of the building follow the palace style of the central plains.
