"The biggest problem in China's education system is that it treats students without distinction, without knowing that individual students have different personalities and talents," said Gu Mingyuan, the director of China Society of Education, and also a famous professor at the Beijing Normal University.
"We surely appreciate an equal opportunities education system, but the problem in China is this has gone so far as to become egalitarian. We must realize that no student is the same. Besides, good education system should vary in modes. It is our responsibility to make sure that every student has equal chances to compete, but not necessarily that all of them have to learn the same things at the same speed. Never will great minds be cultivated in such a dull education system," said Gu.
According to Prof. Gu, the society needs different talents, while an education system that overstresses uniforming is like a mass-production line that generates only one kind of products, which is absolutely unreasonable.
