Cross-Straits educational exchanges is one of the most vibrant fields in the exchanges between Chinese mainland and Taiwan, a senior official has said.
Han Qide, vice chairman of China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification, made the remarks in Beijing on Wednesday while meeting with the visiting professors from central and southern Taiwan.
"Educational exchanges remain one of the most vibrant exchanges across the Straits," said Han, noting nearly 100 mainland universities have established exchange programs with Taiwan counterparts, including summer camps, seminars, forums.
Han expressed his hope that Taiwan compatriots can joint hands with mainland people to fight against Taiwan secessionist activities of "Taiwan independence" in cultural and educational fields.
He called on the Taiwan compatriots to further facilitate the cross-Straits cultural exchanges and pass on the traditional culture of China.
