China's Ministry of Education has officially demanded that the hourly wage for students who work in university work-study programs should be no less than eight yuan, or about 1 dollar, according to a new regulation issued by the ministry on Tuesday.
The new regulation also requires the working hours for students not to exceed 40 hours a week.
For students who work in companies and organizations other than their universities, the wages paid should also be in line with the country's basic standards.
