Adjust font size:

Organizers of the Internet-based TOEFL test have set up 48 test rooms in 26 Chinese cities, said the Examination Center of the Chinese Ministry of Education in Beijing Saturday.

A total of 18 test rooms were newly added at the beginning of this year. They are located in Chongqing, Harbin, Nanning, Shijiazhuang, Jinan, Kunming, Lanzhou, Nanchang, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Changsha, Taiyuan, Wuhan, Hangzhou, Qingdao, and Urumqi.

All of the additional test rooms will be put into use by the end of March, making TOEFL tests available in almost all the regional capitals in China at that time.

TOEFL, standing for Test of English as a Foreign Language, is a must for students who wish to study at universities in the US.

It is estimated that 70,000 Chinese sit for the TOEFL each year, accounting for 10 percent of the total examinees in the world.
