Shanghai Jiao Tong University announced on January 26 that it would continue to enroll up to 300 students this year without asking them to sit the national college entrance exam.

Applicants need to sit a preliminary qualification exam and get through face-to-face interviews with an expert panel.

Sixty students who perform outstandingly well will be awarded a scholarship of up to 20,000 yuan (US$2,500).
