Most People Think Tuition Fees 'Too Expensive'
Adjust font size:

A recent survey shows that most (86.1%) people think that college tuition fees are too expensive. As employment situation becomes more and more critical, the problem has aroused greater concern among the public.

The survey was jointly conducted by China Youth Daily's Social Investigation Center and the Information Center of Tencent News among some 18,523 people.

In recent years, many colleges and universities spend lavishly on campus construction and decoration. In some places, large areas of land are bought for building university centers. Some universities build observation elevators, making university become a site for sightseeing. Some colleges spend tens of millions of yuan to decorate the main gates. In some colleges, newly planted grass seeds are thrown away and replaced with new lawns. Examples like this are countless.

It is a common thing that many colleges are overstaffed with administrative personnel. These people buy luxury cars, use public money dining or treating their business partners in restaurants, organizing celebrations, or traveling abroad, arousing great resentment among many college teachers and students.

Some people suggest that people working in education sector should know which spendings are in college and which costs can be cut down with appropriate measures. With these efforts, high education costs can be reduced to a more rational level.
