A flock of egrets rest on Bosten Lake in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region June 13, 2004. Situated in the middle of the Tianshan Mountains, Bosten Lake is China's largest inland fresh water lake, covering 1,640 square kilometers. Melted snow water from the Tianshan Mountains flows into the lake. The water is so clear that a wide variety of fish and waterfowl make the lake their home. (China.org.cn, 17thcongress.org.cn)
