Hou Jingjing stands out among the mostly dark blue- or grey-dressed delegates attending the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), because of her perseverance in the face of physical handicap.
Tang Xiaojun: The coalminer with a passion for safety
Tang Xiaojun has spent 20 years working underground. Despite the daily challenges, he loves his life down the mine far from the sunlight. "We must not make money at the cost of precious lives," said Tang.
Wan Yuanxi: The father of the 'artificial sun'
Wan Yuanxi is the General Manager of the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) Project.
Wang Qihong: The gymnastic coach

Wu Yongqi: the make-up artist of the terracotta army
Wu Yongqi is the Curator of the Museum of Qin Terracotta Warriors and Horses. Wu is also known rather less formally as the "make-up artist of the terracotta army."
Zou Shiming: the famous boxer
Zou Shiming is 26 years old, 162 centimeters tall, and 48 kilograms in weight. He is China's light flyweight celebrity.
Wang Yali: the heroine of the war against SARS

Yan Huiqin: the chef at the state banquets
It would be difficult to look at Yan Huiqin's resume without being amazed. In her 33 years as a chef, she has laid on more than 500 state banquets, serving some 300 foreign leaders.
Zhao Xia: the lady in a man's world
Zhao Xia, 47, is a delegate from northeast China's Shenyang. She is the country's only female to have reached the level of Deputy Designer General in the field of aircraft aerodynamics.
