Chairman of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
Yang Jing, an alternate member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, was elected chairman of the government of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on January 14, 2004.
The election was held during the second plenary session of the 10th autonomous regional people's congress, which also elected Hu Zhong and Hasi Bagen vice-chairmen of the Standing Committee of the 10th Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional People's Congress.
Yang Jing, of the Mongolian ethnic group, was deputy secretary of the CPC Regional Committee and acting chairman of the regional people's government, before taking over the new job.
He once served as chairman of the Autonomous Regional Youth Federation of Inner Mongolia.
